This is a catalogue that already had the orchestra in it. The show pulls the strings, horns and percussion off the records and puts them on stage — played live, at tempo, with the choreography intact.
Casting is what makes it work. The show is fronted by vocalists and dancers who can carry both the vocal athletics and the movement, backed by a funk rhythm section that treats the groove as the main event.
